Flyfishing

There is something about writing and flyfishing that just seem to go together. Even though my father and great-grandfather were life-long flyfishermen, it was this little article I wrote for the Traverse City Record-Eagle that got me hooked.

Since the mid-90s, I have fished dozens of trout streams in of my native Northern Michigan … all the best-known waters of SW Idaho … a few choice spots along the Arkansas River in Colorado … and just about any other spot where trout, a bit of time, and the right gear come together.

I love teaching flyfishing and introducing my friends to some of my favorite spots. In 2003, I led a group of former colleagues from The Christian Science Monitor on a trip to the Owyhee River in Eastern Oregon … great fish, great stories, and good laughs were had by all.

Shortly after this trip, Kurt moved from South Africa to Chiliean Patagonia, where he and his wife own Campo Adventura.

Bill clearly caught more fish than Kurt in this picture.
